Going Naked

I recently read on one of my go-to beauty blogs, Birchbox, that nude nails with a pop of neon color on just one nail on each hand is currently considered to be tres chic. As a neon-lover -- always have been, always will be -- I thought this look was quite appealing. If I could, I would only wear neon pink. Everywhere. And stripes. I love stripes.

It was hot on Saturday and cleaning the house (well, as much as I'm capable of cleaning) only made my temperature rise, so I decided it was finally time to go nude -- on my nails, that is! I then did what any normal individual would do on an absolutely gorgeous, warm, sunny day. I got into my car, cranked the A/C and rushed to my nail salon for a mani/pedi. Everyone knows my name there -- this must feel the way everyone at Cheers felt.


I brought with me two Deborah Lipmann nail polishes in Naked and Lara's Theme:

I like her stuff. She always makes fun colors. And I think that these nail polishes are supposed to help my nails heal, which I am all about. This summer will be the summer of nail-healing. I hope that when this polish comes off, they're a little stronger. I've been addicted to gel manicures for some time now, and I finally had to stop because they destroyed my nails. I mean destroyed them. They're thin and weak and brittle and they never used to be that way!


While I liked the results of this manicure, I'm not sure I'll do it again. The nude didn't really look like much so it just appears that I have one orange nail on each hand and it seems sort of weird (like me!). I think that next time I'll go Naked with a layer of gold sparkles on top. It sounds classy, right?

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of your own hand? It's really hard! This is what happens when I'm alone. I go out and get weird manicures and then try to take pictures of myself holding empty bowls. I should never be left alone.
