The other day when I was doing a little shopping in New York City, Alana and I swung into Bendel's, one of my favorite places in the world, to see what kinds of baubles we could find.
Oh. Man.
If you remember from a recent post, I didn't understand Chemistry in high school. I hated it. The sight of a beaker or a test tube sent shivers of fear down my spine. My reaction to test tubes changed on Sunday, though, when we stumbled upon a makeup chemistry lab of sorts.
Alana and I found the coolest thing EVER, if you're a makeup junky, that is. And I think I can say with confidence that we are complete makeup junkies.
We stumbled upon a makeup counter where everything is custom made to fit your particular skincare needs and complexion. And it doesn't cost anymore than normal department store makeup. I mean, what? Did we die and go to heaven? Seriously? Is this for real?
Alana and I are always on the search for the perfect shade of something, whether it's gold eyeshadow, red lipstick or coral lipgloss. But it's really hard to find just the right hue, and with so many options out there, you can easily get lost and end up spending tons of bucks at every store from CVS to Christian Dior. This lipstick is too blue! That lip gloss feels like glue!
Okay. I'm done. What I'm trying to say is that you can easily get lost and end up with five tubes of lipstick in varying shades of petal pink while you search for the perfect look and texture. Those days are now over now, thanks to GIELLA custom blend cosmetics.
They'll work with you until you find just what you're looking for. They add all kinds of colors and shimmers and scents and oils to make sure you have the perfect shade of red that isn't too blue or vampy (in Alana's case), and the perfect shade of coral lipstick that's just glossy enough and not too orangey that won't dry out chronically chapped lips (in my case).
Alana walked away with a perfect red lipstick, ideal for work and play, and I walked away with a perfect summer coral glossy lipstick, and a custom made lipbalm to combat those dry puckers of mine. Not only does it smell fab, it works so well! Goodbye, Chapstick!
Can't make it to Bendel's? No problem. You can order online too, and while it won't be as custom, it's still a great option. To find out more about Giella, click here, and for locations near you, click here.

This sounds amazing! When I was a little girl I wanted to make perfume and make up. Then I took a chemistry class and completely changed my mind. I'll have to check this place out the next time I'm in NYC.
